Yes, someone left that car like that. Incomprehensible to me.

I saw a Ford Focus roll from a stop out of its spot and across the front of a D odge C aliber. I laughed until it headed toward a Boxster RS60, which made me get out of my car and run over to stop it. Turns out the guy that parked it didn’t put it into gear or put the parking brake on. What a dolt.

I mean rear visibility is bad, but they should have a backup cam right?

Maybe if my car died while trying to park it, and I had mere  moments to get to a restroom before something worse happened so I couldn’t take the time to push it ...

Other that, no idea.

Good save.

I did something arguably more stupid once; a couple of guys were helping me push my Honda into a parking spot after it died, and it started to roll out of control directly towards another car.

Rather than jump into the driver’s seat right next to me and brake/steer, I was trying to stop it by pushing against the motion. Fortunately one of the guys had a cooler head than mine and told me to stop being an idiot.

This looks like a 2 AM in an empty lot parking job.  Hopefully they learned their lesson here.

I suspect the car rolled into that position.

I drove myself to the hospital while having a “massive” heart attack and managed to park my car in a space between the lines. I also managed to put it in first and use the parking brake. So what’s this person’s excuse? Lol

I'm glad your heart thing didn't keep you from driving or you mightn't have survived.

Seems to be the prevailing theory.

Yeah, it started at the gym and I just thought I had pulled something. I left and started driving home but kept sweating like crazy and couldn’t catch my breath , so I diverted to the hospital. Was still surprised when they hooked me up an the EKG and said that I was in the middle of a massive heart attack. I guess from movies and tv I just assumed a massive heart attack would cause you to keel over on the spot.

I’ve thought about this comment. I think my reaction would have been the opposite, in that I’d have stopped the runaway car from bumping into the more modest car, but laughed at the hypercar getting bumped into.

When I was 17, I was driving my dad’s ‘71 VW Karmann Ghia. I stopped to get a sandwich and looked out to see the car rolling down a s light grade in the parking lot, toward the busy street. (Granby Street in Norfolk, Virginia, at the Doumar’s Barbecue, FWIW) It was summer, and I’d left the windows down, so I dashed toward the car and jumped halfway into the front window and yanked up the parking brake handle. Disaster averted.

When I was about 5, the neighbor kid and I climbed into his family’s sedan and together pulled the gear selector down and either out of Park or out of gear, and the car rolled out into the street. No harm done, but I got yelled at. The neighbor was a coarse, abusive, automobile factory worker who once boxed me in the ear for dripping some water on his living room floor.
